I'm The Duke. I need the name since I can be so submissive. Gives me courage. But a real man can also cuddle and that, I'm good at. I'm only at peace inside the home since I lived in the yard for most, okay, all of my life. And at the grand ole' age of three, we can have a friendship that will last many years. If you work a lot, we're not the right match, but if you're one of those families, who don't ignore the canine, please call. I'm easy. Just love me.

Hi! We're brothers and happen to be really tight-knit. After having our first shots, we were living in some cages when we overheard them saying we would be killed today (September 12, 2007). As we hoped for someone to save us, in walked Kimber. Our new best friend. She's great for sleepovers. Now, we need a permanent home. If you have the time, the love, and the money it takes to keep us healthy, please contact On The Fifth Day. We will bless your lives like you'll never know.

If this big guy were any friendlier, he would start speaking actual words. He is beyond smart. After being neglected all his life, he was eager to meet people and learn everything he could. This Pitt-mix loves everyone, including children, and is a powerhouse but doesn't know it. At 70 lbs., how is he supposed to know his own strength when he just wants to give you a wet kiss.
This gorgeous animal needs lots of running space. He bounds with joy when he's playing and fetching. Since he's been chained all his life, his biggest deal-breaker is that he lives inside with his pack/family/you most of the time; unless, of course, you're letting him play in the yard or you're taking him to the park. Preferably, his guardian should be able to handle "a lot of dog."

Hi. I'm Izzy. I've been given this new moniker and quite like it. I really need to be loved. I'm a cuddler, not a fighter. Here's the scoop: I wandered around until I came to a house with a screened door. Jackpot! After using my four claws to attach myself sufficiently, the human animal let me in. She is kind and a great foster. But I need a permanent home. I'm loving - and will even follow you around until you give me some attention - but certainly not clingy. And besides, who could resist this face. Please don't wait long...I'd love to live inside soon!

Bear has been adopted by the director of OTFD and will work as a therapy dog.
We know about the heroics, love, and dedication of working dogs: The police dog that takes a bullet for his partner;
The dog for the Deaf that becomes the persons’ ears. We’re also familiar with therapy dogs: The dog that visits the hospital
and licks the cheek of a child with cancer; The cat(why yes, they work too!) that visits the Senior home and cuddles up in the
lap of an elderly woman.
The joy these animals bring is priceless. When I met Jake (first "J", then "Ray-Ray",
and now "Bear"), I knew immediately he was bound for greatness. He had been caged for over ten hours a day but had a gentle temperament and eyes of sweetness.
|
|
It was mostly a gut feeling. J would be trained to train others. This, in turn, would be a reward to J who greatly deserved it. He will go into Pre-Schools and teach children how to treat an animal. He will go into grade schools and teach empathy and compassion. He will go into middle and high schools and show students that he is a creature with feelings. He will go into businesses and teach that abuse to any animal is equal to abuse to him.
J has his work cut out for him. But we know, he’s just the dog for the job.

My story's kind of shocking but I know you'll listen. I was left at McDonald's so as I dug for food with not much luck, I noticed some especially nice faces.
I took my chances. They gave me some chicken nuggets. As I crossed back, dodging traffic, I felt the nice lady running towards me.
She scooped me up before I was hit by a car. Instead of a tragedy, it was a miracle. The family took me home and have fostered me
for the several months even though the father gets horribly sick when he pets me. I try to stay to myself because they have three
huge dogs who would eat me like a nugget if given the chance. I'm pretty sure I'm around 1 1/2 years old, love to purr, and afternoons
are heavenly because I get to play with the kids when they get home from school. I really am a cool cat but now, I need a miracle.
This family spent $100 getting every shot I need, the worms I didn't, and the spaying I did. Please, please. Open your hearts and adopt a new best friend.
I promise to change your life in a really good way.

I wondered away from a bad situation. A very kind woman found me, allowing me to stay in her garage and backyard.
It was in February of 2008 that Kimber Cleveland from On The Fifth Day took me to find a permanent home.
I'm spayed, vetted, housetrained (but need some patience at a new home) and calm around kids. No jumping up or anything.
I'm a serene dog, 8-ish, and need to connect with someone before I start giving you wet kisses. I love riding in the car.
I'm even trained to sit, stay, lie down, and speak. I'd say I'm the whole package. And now I get walks all the time - LOVE it! So come on - CALL!
My name is Makita.

Hello, my name is Abby. I was tied up my whole life. And bred that entire time, too. I won't dwell on it because now, due to On The Fifth Day, I am playing with other dogs, I'm so happy my smile charms everyone who sees it, and I'm learning lots of new things: How to walk on a leash, and someone said I may need to be housetrained but I'm a quick learner so don't hold that against me. Please. I am so eager to please. Could you please me and call right now? I want the home I've never had.

Hello, my name is Brady. I didn’t want to give up, so I fought hard to live. And
now, I'm so appreciative and loving. I'm currently being well taken care of in a
foster home, but still long for a permanent place to call my own. If you're
looking for a strong, true companion, who is a lover, not a fighter, then I'm your
boy!

Dixie didn’t feel like celebrating this 4th of July. She kept looking out of the dog park where she was abandoned.
Her wonderful rescuers are now fostering her and say she’s nothing but wonderful. She’s young – under a year – frisky,
loves riding in the car, smart, and probably lived outside a lot. So under the experienced instruction of her foster family,
she’s being crate trained, socialized, and loved unconditionally.
Dixie's next holiday will be her very best.

PLEASE DO WHAT YOU CAN TO ENSURE THE OTFD FACILITY IS BUILT THIS SPRING! |
After years of not knowing why my love and concern for animals ran so deeply, I was inspired in 2003 to open On The Fifth Day. As a community, as a society, as caregivers to species who cannot yell out, "Please help me," we can no longer ignore the egregious state of animal overpopulation and abuse in Middle Tennessee.
"GOING GREEN" means more than saving the environment, the ozone, and recycling. We must save the animals as well.
We will build a sanctuary where they can be mended physically and emotionally, where their quality of life can soar, and where they have the chance to find a permanent home with someone who knows how to love an animal. All of God's creatures deserve this.
Most importantly - all of them, will be loved and protected. Just as they were when they were created…
On The Fifth Day.
